Spotted around Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon was another familiar face of the AJGA, the club's Director of Golf Henry Liaw. The native Southern Californian played with the AJGA from 1999-2002, earning Rolex Junior All-America honors in each of his last three seasons. In his first-ever AJGA event, Liaw won the ClubCorp Mission Hills Desert Junior, his first of five AJGA top-10 finishes. In 2001, Liaw added his name to the history books by winning the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio. In 2002, Liaw represented the West in the Wyndham Cup before continuing on to play collegiate golf for the University of Arizona.

One of my first stops as an AJGA intern was in Beaumont, California, at the 2012 Preseason Junior at Oak Valley, so it is fitting my last event brought me back to Beaumont for the Preseason Junior at Morongo. A lot has happened in the short span of two years: I’ve watched colleagues move on to take jobs at the USGA and PGA TOUR, I’ve watched four intern classes build their careers at the AJGA, I’ve watched two Wyndham Cups, and I’ve watched the best junior golfers in the world follow their dreams to college golf.
During the final round, a girl on the starting tee shook my hand and said “thank you so much for all you do.” It’s moments like those that constantly remind me what an incredible place the AJGA is and how wonderful these young men and women are. It’s been such a pleasure working in AJGA communications and I look forward to following all those #AJGAAlum out on TOUR. - Amanda
