The Bluegrass State
The PNC Bank Junior Championship presented by London & Laurel County was the AJGA’s second event of the year in Kentucky and first new event in the state since 2006 when the city of Alvaton hosted the Houchens Industries Junior Open. Since 1981, the AJGA has hosted 40 events in six different cities in the state of Kentucky.
Crooked Creek Golf Club
Crooked Creek Golf Club opened its doors in 1993 and has hosted several elite-level competitions, including the Kentucky State Amateur Championship, LPGA Duramed Futures Tour and South-East Kentucky Collegiate Championship. The course tests golfers’ abilities with significant elevation changes and challenging landing zones which can force the driver out of even the most accurate golfer’s hand.
First Time Champion
Nathan Pirtle of Sullivan, Ind., carded his first AJGA victory in his four-year junior career at the PNC Bank Junior Championship presented by London & Laurel County. Pirtle, a 2015 graduate, bested his previous top-finish of T14, which he posted at the 2010 Junior All-Star at The Rail.
