News and Notes: AJGA Junior at Centennial
by Morgan Seeley, AJGA Communications
Recap from Medford, Ore., as we wrap up the AJGA Junior at Centennial.
HOMETOWN FAVORITE: Boys Division champion Kevin Murphy took his first AJGA title back to his home just thirty minutes from the course. After recording his first hole-in-one last month on the same course, Murphy was accompanied by around 30 spectators in his final round.
GROWING MORE THAN PEARS: In only the third year of it's existence, the AJGA Junior at Centennial decided to expand this year’s tournament by adding some extra special touches. These items included a 21 team junior-am, a kids golf clinic for the community and a tournament putt-a-pear contest.
HARRY & DAVID: Outside of this week’s tournament, Medford is home to the mail order direct marketing fruit company Harry & David’s headquarters. At this week’s parents meeting, they sponsored appetizers alongside wine tasting from a local vineyard.
WIN FOR WU: After carding four top-20 finishes in the 2012 season, Girls Division champion Bethany Wu earned her second win this week. Wu's first win came from her first AJGA event in 2009 at the Preseason Junior at Oak Valley.
