The showdown is beginning to take form at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C., for this year’s Wyndham Cup. If numbers could talk, the story would go like this:
22 – Number of years the AJGA team match-play event has been in existence
40 – Number of juniors representing either the East or West
11 – Players making a repeat appearance to the Wyndham Cup
19 – Players who participated in the U.S. Junior last week
27 – Players who have given a verbal commitment or signed a National Letter of Intent to a university
15 – Players who have tallied at least one AJGA victory in 2011
5 – Formats being played: Tuesday – four-ball, mixed foursome; Wednesday – foursome, mixed four-ball; Thursday – Singles
6 – Winning streak the West is carrying into the 2011 Wyndham Cup
5 – Number of ways you can follow the action: Tournament Microsite, FJ Live Scoring, Twitter (@AJGAGolf), AJGA Blog and Facebook.
With all of these numbers swirling around, there is really only one that the players are thinking about – 25.5, the number of points needed to win the Cup. The stage is set for a thrilling event, here we go!
