Some players read books for golf advice. Others take lessons. And some players even tweet. A competitor at the PING Phoenix Junior at Moon Valley Country Club, Jenny Hahn, went to golf expert Annika Sorenstam. Hahn tweeted at Sorenstam (@ANNIKA59) for advice on how to shoot a 59 at Moon Valley Country Club, site of the AJGA’s 21st annual PING Phoenix Junior, June 6-9. Sorenstam’s reply was, “One shot at a time.”
Sorenstam’s 13-under-par 59 is Moon Valley’s competitive course record, not to mention her all-time lowest 18-hole score. Hahn said this was her first time tweeting at Sorenstam, and the response came within ten minutes – something she never expected. The 16-year-old junior plans to take the advice starting with the practice round.
“It’s out there,” Hahn said. “You know you can shoot a 59 because it’s been done before.”
Sorenstam’s 59 bests the men’s competitive course record, 63, by four strokes.
“Knowing Annika did it is empowering for us girls.”
