Aaron’s / Bob Estes Abilene Junior celebrated its 30th anniversary at the Abilene Country Club—Fairway Course in Abilene, Texas. After 30 years, this event still made you say “did you see that?”
Double-eagles and first-ever AJGA victories for both the boys and girls champions Austen Fuller of Edmond, Okla., and Alicia Malagon of Tampico, Mexico, throw in a dozen birdies for Fuller and you have only half of the eventful action that took place.
The week at the Abilene Country Club—Fairway Course also included great laughs from the juniors that participated in the Great Golf Ball Race.
Win or lose, good attitudes are essential. Libby Thomas of Midland, Texas, and Patrick Sanchez of Mazatlan, Mexico, were recipients of the Todd Moore Sportsmanship Award. This award is presented to a junior golfer who displays good sportsmanship on and off of the golf course. This includes fixing ball marks, filling divots, participating in Care for the Course and other social activities during the week.
Thirty years may seem like a long time, but participate in an Aaron’s / Bob Estes Abilene Junior event and you’ll see why we keep coming back to Abilene year after year.
